Through the works of one hundred and forty-two artists created since 1913, this book presents a panorama of artistic movements that have emphasized light and movement within the framework of abstraction.

In addition to studies on some of the main historical and thematic subjects addressed in the exhibition "Dynamo: A Century of Light and Movement in Art 1913-2013," organized by Serge Lemoine with the collaboration of Matthieu Poirier, Marianne Le Pommeré, and Domitille d'Orgeval, it includes reproductions of the works exhibited at the Grand Palais, as well as substantial documentation in the form of dossiers.

The subject is approached in a novel way through the juxtaposition of the highly varied forms adopted by artists over a century of plastic research, focusing on visual phenomena and the treatment of space.

The intention is to abandon painting, desacralize the work of art, demystify the artist's role, and prioritize the real, perception, and technique. Phenomena are showcased, movement is utilized, structure is asserted, instability is sought, equivalences are explored, composition is discarded, sensitivity is rejected, and objectivity is emphasized. It is abstract art, but without metaphysics or symbolism.
