CHROMOSTRUCTURE D'INDUCTION CHROMATIQUE (2018)

DATE: FROM JULY 19

VENUE: UNIVERSIDAD METROPOLITANA (UNIMET), CARACAS, VENEZUELA

Created by Carlos Cruz-Diez in 2018 for the University, Chromostructure DʼInduction Chromatique is now part of the Universidad Metropolitana gardens, a lively meeting place for students, faculty members and passers-by. The artwork consists in two arches of Induction Chromatique forming a circle of 3.50 meters in diameter, each arch having a dimension of 3.42 in height by 1.75 meters in width.

The works I create in urban spaces and the habitat are artistic statements generated in time and space, creating unforeseen “situations” and “chromatic events” in constant mutation that change the dialectic between the viewer and the work.

Cruz-Diez, 1996

During the inaugural ceremony, and as part of the artist's centenary celebrations, the University has presented Cruz-Diez with a posthumous Doctor Honoris Causa in recognition of his lifetime career and his contribution to contemporary art.
