RGB, LOS COLORES DEL SIGLO

DATE: FROM 13 JUNE 2024 TO 29 SEPTEMBER 2024

VENUE: MUSEO DE ARTE COSTARRICENSE, SAN JOSÉ, SABANA, COSTA RICA

A few days after its start in Seoul, the travelling exhibition RGB, the Colors of the Century is inaugurated at the Museo de Arte Costarricense (MAC), one of the most important museum of Costa Rica.

Part of the many tributes made to the artist on the occasion of his centennial, this show is the first to honor his memory in Central America. For this venue, the Museo de Arte Costarricense also included the artwork “AAA”, which is part of its permanent collection.

This exhibition is a very significant event for the Costa Rican scene that brings the population closer to the works of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, as well as inspiring new generations to explore the infinite possibilities of color.

Esteban Calvo, director of the Museo de Arte Costarricense

The exhibition also seeks to impact public spaces in the city of San José through the installation of two Cruz-Diez’s urban interventions.

Induction Chromatique (Paris, 2019), a walkway that was displayed in San Gimignano in May 2019, is visible at the entrance of the Museum. A few steps away, Induction Chromatique (Paris, 2017) a crosswalk intervention executed in front of the Escuela Metálica, one of the oldest primary education institutions in the country, declared a relic of national historical and architectural interest in 1980.
